Lifting Solutions On FPSO

Floating production, storage and offloading vessels (FPSO) are complex structures, with a maze of piping and processing or production modules on deck, requiring regular maintenance and upgrading of machinery and components. Maintenance and upgrades can be a challenge on FPSOs when substantial lifts, or complex rigging and skidding of heavy process equipment, pumps and motors are required in areas of the vessel located outside of the operating radius of onboard cranes and lifting appliances.

Modular Crane Solutions for FPSO

Typically FPSO have excellent crane coverage and various lifting appliances strategically positioned on deck, however their reach will not extend to 100% of the deck areas or production and processing modules. When FPSO cranes are out of reach, de-rated, or experiencing downtime operators may need alternative, temporary lifting solutions such as the Thunder Cranes modular crane.

Even when the project is within reach of existing FPSO deck cranes, a complex non-routine lifting requirement can be disruptive to the FPSO crane’s routine operations. When a FPSO crane is dividing its time between routine and non-routing lifting operations it can lead to a loss of efficiency and productivity in important areas.

GL-AC Replacement on Vietnam FPSO

This recent Thunder Cranes project on an FPSO in offshore Vietnam is a great example of the effectiveness of our solutions when dealing with unusually challenging offshore projects. Prior to contacting Thunder Cranes, the client had searched for solutions since 2022, but the other methods they looked at were not feasible or cost-effective.

Lifting Solutions On FPSO for Life Raft Davits

The goal of this project in offshore Thailand was the installation of new davit arms for FPSO life-raft upgrades. Thunder Cranes successfully deployed TC05 & TC15 cranes, enabling the upgrades to be completed on schedule and under budget.

Lifting Support for PSA Installation on FPSO

Thunder Cranes successfully positioned a TC05 modular crane on FPSO process deck to provide lifting support for a PSA vessel changeout on an FPSO. Our scope included lifting equipment from the process deck to the platform upper deck. The heaviest lift performed was 3,516Kg.
