Rigless CTU Well Intervention Lifting Support by Thunder Cranes Offshore Malaysia

Lifting Support for Rigless Well Intervention

Thunder Cranes provided a TC20-SL portable modular crane to support a rigless well intervention requiring coiled tubing operations. The platform’s 5 MT crane was insufficient for the heavy CTU equipment lifts of up to 18 MT. TC20-SL was rapidly deployed, rigged up, and safely executed all heavy lifts, enabling timely, cost-effective completion and increased production without rig mobilization.

Offshore Lifting Support for CTU Cement Packer Operation

Thunder Cranes provided engineered lifting support for a CTU Cement Packer operation offshore Malaysia. The main challenge was to design a modular crane installation compatible with the platform’s structural limitations and allowable reaction forces. Our scope included detailed engineering, crane deployment, CTU transfer from the supply vessel, deck installation, and ongoing lifting support throughout operations. The heaviest lift was 10.8 MT. This project highlights Thunder Cranes’ expertise in delivering safe, engineered lifting solutions in constrained environments.

Motor Removal Offshore Angola

Thunder Cranes successfully and safely completed a challenging motor removal on an offshore platform’s gas compression module. To design and execute this job required a high degree of ingenuity, experience and expertise from the project leaders, engineers, and lifting specialist involved. It demonstrated the effectiveness of our zone 2 certified, self-lifting crane packages in delivering lifting solutions at a fraction of the cost of a barge crane.

Prior to contacting Thunder Cranes, the client had searched for solutions since 2022, but the other methods they looked at were not feasible or cost-effective.

Lifting Support for KOP Installation

The TC15 Stiff Leg (portable-modular crane) was selected as the most cost-effective and efficient solution to assist our client with lifting a Knock-Out-Pot (KOP) at an offshore platform in Malaysia. The KOP was lifted from the vessel to the platform and the installation completed safely and successfully within a timely manner.

The goal of the first phase of the project was the safe removal of a platform crane boom. Lifting Solutions On FPSO for Life Raft Davits

The goal of this project in offshore Thailand was the installation of new davit arms for FPSO life-raft upgrades. Thunder Cranes successfully deployed TC05 & TC15 cranes, enabling the upgrades to be completed on schedule and under budget.

Lifting Support for PSA Installation on FPSO

Thunder Cranes successfully positioned a TC05 modular crane on FPSO process deck to provide lifting support for a PSA vessel changeout on an FPSO. Our scope included lifting equipment from the process deck to the platform upper deck. The heaviest lift performed was 3,516Kg.

Thunder Cranes was responsible for skidding a 120MT Helideck structure backwards by 7 metres in order to clear sufficient space to accommodate drilling rig activities at this Malaysian platform.
